What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device by websites. This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar storage technologies (such as your browser’s local storage or session storage) deepsight.de uses: for your settings, for the AI chat and, only with your consent, to analyze how our website is used.

What cookies do we use?

Essential Storage

Without consent, the website only stores what is needed for the functions you request; this cannot be switched off in the cookie banner (category “Essential Cookies”). It does not set any cookies for this, and no entry contains an identifier that we could use to recognize you beyond your visit; the conversation ID of the AI chat only applies to the current conversation.

• cookie_consent: stores your choice in the cookie banner and when you made it. Not a cookie but an entry in your browser’s local storage; we ask again after 12 months.
• ds-assistant-conversation: stores the ID and history of your current conversation in the AI chat, a signed visitor token and information about the remaining conversation allowance. This lets you continue the conversation on other pages; the token protects its association with your session. Not a cookie but an entry in your browser’s session storage; it is only created when you send a message in the chat and is deleted when you close the tab or start a new conversation.

The legal basis for this storage is Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act): it is strictly necessary for us to provide the functions you request.

Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website. We only load Google Analytics 4 if you consent to the “Analytics” category; only then does Google Analytics set these cookies:

• _ga: distinguishes visitors; expires after up to 2 years (according to Google)
• _ga_*: stores the session state; expires after up to 2 years (according to Google)

The cookies contain a random identifier, not names or email addresses. For details on the processing, see our privacy policy (in German).

Marketing Cookies

We do not use marketing cookies, and we do not embed any advertising or retargeting services. The cookie banner therefore only asks for your consent to analytics. Via Consent Mode, we always report the advertising signals ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization to Google as denied, even if you choose “Accept all”.

Apart from Google Analytics (only with your consent), we do not embed any third-party services that set cookies when you visit our pages, such as embedded videos or social media widgets. The share buttons in our blog are simple links: the respective network’s page opens only when you click one, and that network may then set its own cookies.
